Throughout my eight and a half years of pole dancing, I've realized that the measure of experience isn't counted in years but in the hours dedicated to honing the craft. As a teacher, I commit approximately 30-35 hours each week to pole fitness, yoga, and gym training. This extensive involvement has not only solidified my understanding of the basics but has also deepened my comprehension of how my body functions during exercise. This deep insight is perhaps why I can significantly aid our clients in improving their skills.
Despite my expertise, my journey of learning never halts. I continuously seek knowledge through online courses and by learning from the world's top pole dancers, striving to enhance my skills continually.
A fundamental practice of mine is revisiting the basics. While I naturally cover beginner and intermediate levels through daily teaching, I make a concerted effort to start from these levels again before progressing to advanced pole sessions weeks later. There's always something new to discover, a fresh technique to master, or a nuanced movement to perfect.
The pole dancing community is diverse, including many instructors who teach as a sideline. I hold immense respect for those who manage to carve out time from their busy schedules to train and learn, despite not being full-time instructors. Their dedication to improving both their skills and their teaching is commendable.
I am profoundly grateful for the trust other instructors place in me, seeking out my training to enhance their teaching capabilities and pole skills. This reciprocity in learning underscores a crucial lesson: the pursuit of knowledge never ceases, regardless of your level of expertise or the frequency of your teaching. Teaching a few classes a week or training sporadically cannot compare to the immersive experience of full-time dedication.
To all aspiring and practicing pole dancers and instructors: remember that you can never stop learning. Every session, every class, and every practice is an opportunity to evolve—not just as dancers, but as lifelong students of this captivating art form. <3
