It's funny how health isn't prioritized or seen as a top daily priority. We spend so much money to look good—nails, makeup, slimming pills, new clothes we don’t need—doing everything to enhance our outer appearance. Yet, the first thing we cut back on is our inner well-being.
I've seen numerous people/friends cancel their gym/pole memberships because they're tight on money or don't have enough time. The first thing they drop is their investment in mental and physical health. :(
There was a time when I could barely afford the basics, and I used my credit card to pay for my pole fitness sessions. That was eight years ago, and now I make a living through fitness. I am stronger and healthier than ever, both mentally and physically. I am thriving and loving life. My muscles are strong and flexible, supporting my body so my movements are free and painless. My mind is more resilient, I’m not stressed daily, and consequently, I don’t get ill.
Where would I be right now if I'd decided to give up on my health and fitness? I worked 50 hours per week, I was stressed every day and I was ill all the time. (Chest infection, Kidney infection, Water infection, etc...) I had no time to myself and I hated it. So I cut my working hours and I started my pole and yoga journey. I barely managed to pay for my bills and yet I was way happier and felt whole again. Time doesn't come back. Money does.
I am 35 years old, and prioritizing my health for the last eight years has made a significant difference. I don’t drink and I eat healthily, so when I’m over 80, I can enjoy a quality life without worrying about my health. Movement is medicine. Don’t underestimate it. Find your favorite way to move and exercise, and stick with it. I guarantee you won’t be able to stop and will do more and more each month.
